CUBISM. T. Fisher Unwin. London. 1913

FIRST ENGLISH EDITION. Large 8vo.(8.4 x 6.7 inches).
Illustrated with 25 mono plates reproducing works by Picasso, Derain(Miss-spelt Derian), Leger, Duchamp, Gris and others. Single leaf advertisement at the end, for the Galerie Clovis Sagot, Paris, advertising "Oeuvres de Fauves at Cubistes".
Publishers cloth with gilt lettering to the front board and spine. The gilt very bright and sharp. One small chip(0.2 x 0.4 inch) to the top of the cloth spine otherwise a much better than usually found copy in the rare original dustwrapper, lettered to the panels and spine in black. Loss to the top 1 inch of the spine and a couple of small holes. Split along the length of the top hinge and held together in a removable brodart book protector but overall this is a good example of this rarely seen wrapper.
Both book and wrapper miss-spell Metzinger's name "Metzanger". The first theoretical work on, and also the first book to use the term, Cubism.
