With colour frontispiece, four additional full-page colour plates, 2 double-page plates and one full-page plate. Plates complete. Contains chapters on Government, Law, Taxes, Religious Sects, Agriculture, Population, Science, Literature, etc. Sir John Barrow (1764-1848) was the founder of the Royal Geographical Society.
