Thomas Bewick: The Sketchbook of 1792-1799.

Edited and with an Introduction by Nigel Tattersfield. Published by Jarndyce Books, London.

In 2013 the only known sketchbook by the famed wood engraver Thomas Bewick re-emerged at the California Book Fair. This highly significant manuscript comprises forty original drawings from Bewick’s most creative period, including some that were later published in his History of British Birds and General History of Quadrupeds. Virtually unknown, it was only exhibited briefly in 1903 and has never been reproduced until now.

Published by Jarndyce Books, this limited edition of 200 copies carefully reproduces the complete sketchbook in facsimile, with book design by Iain Bain and detailed explanatory text by Nigel Tattersfield, both leading authorities on the life and work of the artist.

Purchase your copy of this exciting publication at stand 29, Jarndyce Books, and take it to the main stage from 4pm to 5.30pm on Friday or between 3.30 and 4.30pm on Saturday to have it signed by editor Nigel Tattersfield.
